Joe Prisco is a Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) in IBM Systems. Joe is the technical owner of the physical planning information used by IBM clients to layout, design, and build data centers as well as the power profile chief test engineer responsible for compliance to worldwide energy laws, programs such as ENERGY STAR, and standards. Additionally, Joe is the rack power distribution architect and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) integrator for IBM solutions. Joe has an extensive background in the area of electrical power generation as well as distribution and is active on several committees in this area. Joe is chair of an International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) committee on low frequency EMC power line emissions standards as well as a member of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code making panel 12, responsible for data centers and portable, modular containers. Joe is a corresponding member of ASHRAE TC 9.9 and has made significant contributions to several books as well as written several transaction papers on electrical power topics. Joe received a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Telecommunications from St. Mary's.
