Start Time: 9/24/2019 9:00:00 AM
End Time: 9/24/2019 10:00:00 AM

When there are problems with the operation of IT equipment, the facility infrastructure, specifically electrical power and grounding, is often suspected as the cause. Electrical power and grounding are usually reviewed and checked first through a process of elimination. In general, proper grounding and bonding are the first line of defense for power quality problems as well as protection against electric and static shock. Even though grounding and bonding of IT Equipment is required by electrical code, the importance of grounding cannot be overstated. Grounding is not only required for safety reasons, but also needed for optimum performance and successful operation of IT equipment.

Learning Objectives:
1. Define grounding and bonding in critical facilities
2. Discuss the importance of grounding and bonding of IT equipment
3. Identify proper and improper grounding of IT equipment and racks in data centers
4. Evaluate various supplemental options for grounding
